Tweaking the profile
Roasting happily by the wide open window, a pleasant micro-roaster's working environment:
Since the computer is now well connected to the PXG4, I can also tweak the roast profile much more easily using one of the Artisan menu's on the laptop.
See below. It means
step 1 go to 115ºC in 90 seconds
step 2 go to 155ºC in 3:30 (drying phase finished at 5 minutes sharp)
step 3 go to 208ºC (FC) in 2:15 (getting there at 7:15 into the roast)
step 4 go to 222ºC in 2 minutes (finish in 9:15 into the roast)
step 5 cool down a.s.a.p.
It's easy to change each field and then click "Set" to send the altered command to the controller.
Studying the results, smelling and tasting the beans, one can decide to try small changes, execute these exactly as planned, evaluate any difference in looks, taste and smell and possibly change another detail.
